Painted while I was living in Los Angeles. This piece was in a show called Tiny Embers at Studio NOHO. It was such an honor. I painted a lot smaller while I was living in LA. Space is so limited there. I wasn't even sure I could paint small. Then they started to flow. I started making paintings with collage elements that I also drew. This one was magic. It was about breaking ties that no longer served me. I even ended up writing a poem with the piece. Her body is painted with rose petals. The image in her face depicts a heart under the floor boards. Showing where I was at in life. There is blue wax all over the painting and salt. Sealing the fate of the release that would happen much later. This one is close to my heart. The whole series I painted in LA are all blue and orange hue themed. 24 in by 16 in. Mixed media on canvas. Painted in 2024
